If you’ve spent any significant time with Snake Game, you know the drill: eat the apple, grow longer, don't hit the wall. But once you’ve mastered the basic loop and cleared the board a few times, the standard game can start to feel a bit... linear.

Thankfully, the developers tucked away a variety of modes and hidden modifiers that turn the classic experience into a high-stakes puzzle or a chaotic arcade feat. If the standard green fields are starting to bore you, here are the best snake game challenges to test your reflexes.

1. The "Dual" Mode (Double Trouble)
Found in the settings menu (look for the icon with two snakes), this mode puts you in control of one snake while a second, mirrored snake moves simultaneously.

The Challenge: You have to keep track of two bodies at once. If either snake hits a wall or its own tail, the game ends.

Why it’s fun: It forces your brain to process spatial awareness in two different sectors of the screen at the same time. It’s the ultimate test of multitasking.

2. The "Portal" Challenge
By selecting the portal icon (two circles connected by a line), the edges of the screen are no longer walls. Instead, entering the left side makes you pop out on the right, and so on.

The Challenge: While this sounds easier, it’s actually more disorienting. When your snake is long, your head might be coming out of a portal right as your tail is entering it, leading to accidental "head-to-tail" collisions that happen in a split second.

Pro Tip: Try this on the Small Map for a truly claustrophobic experience.
